The first bed rugs were knotted shags of less grade wool. Bed rugs experienced great popularity in 1600s. Originally bed rugs were made on wool backing with embroidery on the top. Different kinds of embroidery decorated bed rugs –flat embroidery, running stitches or darning stitches – all like miraculous patterns of a fairy tale. Leaf and floral patterns prevailed in that time bed rugs. Feather and vine motifs were common as well. First bed rugs were produced in England but later on colonial women produced hand made bed rugs themselves. Today bed rugs serve as excellent decoration of bedrooms as they did many years ago. There’s another notion of bed rugs. Special truck flooring is also called bed rugs. They protect your cargo while transporting. With bed rugs you may be calm while transporting.
